Dietary Aide

SUPERVISOR: Director of Dietary Department

WORK AREA: Dietary Area

JOB SUMMARY:

Food preparation and handling. Cleaning of dishes and pots and pans. Setting up tray service. Sanitation in dietary kitchen and related areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  1. Washes dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Clean and sanitize food caddies and overall kitchen area.
  1. Follow duties related to job tasks.
  1. Works tray line, pours beverages and serves food items and transport food caddies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires a variety of duties and responsibilities. The employee must stand, walk, stoop, reach, handle, talk, hear and see. Position requires using physical activities which includes pushing, pulling and frequently lifting 10-25 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds. The employee is in a variable of hot and cold environments with the possibility of high moisture conditions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Daily documentation completed by the end of each meal.

Notify the supervisor of food requests from the nursing staff to assure request is within resident's diet order.

Must follow all sanitation procedures and proper food handling techniques.

Must follow all safety procedures as required by State and Federal Code and facility policy.

Monitors Nursing Home's resources in relation to cost of food, supplies, equipment, and time.

Follows nursing home policies and procedures

Respects residentsí rights and dignity.

Reports any suspected resident abuse as required by government regulations and the nursing home policies.

Attend all required inservices and seminars.

Mandatory inservices must be met within time required.

Required to follow established policies in regard to tardiness, attendance, and dress code.

Serves as a positive ambassador to the facility, residents, visitors, and the community.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Good communication skills, and flexible. Must be able to read and write.
